Would you buy Photoshop if released on Linux – Cast your vote

The title says it all, I would like to get an estimate of the number of users who would purchase adobe software if it were available on Linux.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I tried out Windows 7 to verify the hype surrounding it and found it very lacking when compared to Linux or OSX. The only reason I have to continue using windows is Adobe Photoshop which I dont really like to be perfectly honest. I want to find out if there are enough buyers for Adobe to consider a Linux version.

I’m an other – I need photoshop to switch to Linux, but I need a lot more than photoshop, I’d need PS, AI, Flash, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver would be nice. Adobe is the only thing keeping me on Windows right now – otherwise, I’d love to give Linux a shot.

@Ben
The same is true for very many people, I hope I get enough votes to show the need for Adobe software on Linux.

I’ve said it for the last 10 years. It’s a catch 22 situation but it starts with Adobe. They do not want to move their products to linux because it is a small market. But it is a small market because their products are not on it!
There are a couple of problems with Linux as I see it. One, lack of software. Two, lack of offline community support. Three, lack of market awareness.
If Adobe moved it’s products to Linux it would start a chain reaction. Developers and designers would move to Linux. That creates the backbone of a computer literate literate community for the Linux operating system. Once that is in place those Adobe customers will recommend Linux to their friends and family.
If Adobe put it’s software on Linux it would solve all three problems:
1. Lack of software – Adobe putting it’s software on Linux would solve a lot of the software requirements people need to switch and cause other vendors to look at linux more seriously. “If Adobe is targeting Linux then they must know something we don’t. GET ME A LINUX VERSION PRONTO!”
2. Lack of offline community – With Adobe software users on Linux word of mouth marketing and immediate assistance will create a community to support non IT.
3. Lack of awareness – With Adobe products on Linux marketing will make Linux aware to the public as another operating system OS.
What Adobe doesn’t realize yet is that they have a market that they can directly grow as large as they want.

Addendum: *small market should be smaller US market

Adobe produces well innovative solution for the world, if available for Linux surely it will be a most used application as well as, it will be a helpful for the developers and designers .
reason is no need of spending much money for Operating system as well as the Anitvirus (especially for Windows).

Photoshop may be a powerful tool but it wasn’t enough to stop me switching to Linux, I will settle with other tools like the GIMP if I need to (but haven’t done yet).
If Adobe did release it for Linux, which I doubt they will, I know several and am one of the people who would be getting it.
Currently, Linux is a far better environment for programming as opposed to design work. I think a Linux version of Photoshop might bring both to the same level.

Adobe is one of the things keeping me on windows. Also ZBrush. Maya allready has a version that runs on Linux, a hybrid, fascinating concept.

Adobe on Linux? I hate this company and their policies/Business strategies. We bought “serious Magic” now Adobe “whatever” and this company seriously did not propose any upgrade solutions for people who had just bought this product before they bought the company. We have completely switched from *ALL* Adobe products on our production line, not even the fonts have their trademark.
Even if they ported to linux we(we are not all users in the world) would not be buying this garbage. It is why we’ve switched completely to Gimp, Inkscape, Synfig, MyPaint etc. with no regrets. What keeps us on windows is Lightwave(which we intend to keep using).

Wow, It is great to hear someone who is currently using mainly open source. I had not heard of MyPaint and Synfig before, please share any more O.S software you use that is not very common. Thanks

never. gnu/linux and free software is not only about using one or the other OS, it’s about freedom of choice and freedom of knowledge. using gnu/linux with a lot of proprietary software defeats the point, if you just want to use it with the whole adobe suite, then stay on windows/mac.
ever heard of the “free as in free speech vs. free as in free beer” argument? that’s the kind of thing i’m talking about.

It’d be really cool to see Photoshop ported to Linux. Lots of people stay with Windows for one app and Photoshop is a big one.
That being said, GIMP does everything I need to do.
