Want to create an Open Source Web based OS for Netbooks? Join Us!

Xenon is a web-based “cloud” system designed to run all the programs you’d expect a computer to perform, such as wordprocessing, instant messaging, and browsing the web aimed at netbooks. Me and a friend had started this project a few months back and are now looking for more people to join the project and make this a reality.

The advantage of the system is that it can run on extremely low-end hardware, such as netbooks, tablets, PDAs, and kiosk PCs. This way, computers can become very cheap and still be able to do most tasks expected of them.

Dan Dart originally started the project, wanting to create an intuitive user interface as he noticed a need for this as netbooks are becoming more popular. The main aims of the project is to create a system that is fast and efficient, very easy to use, portable, using web standards and to make it as less resource demanding as possible.
